CORRESPONDENCE COURSES - Available in either PDF or CD-ROM format
Note: To qualify for credit a course must be directly related to the professional growth and development of the professional engineer. The following courses are designed to provide technical, managerial, or ethical/legal instruction to enhance the professional engineer's practice. The responsibility is placed on the registrant to determine which courses meet continuing education requirements in states that do not pre-approve courses or sponsors of continuing education courses. The Kentucky Board of Licensure does not pre-approve engineering continuing professional development courses.

PREPARING CONTRACT DOCUMENTS - 3 PDH - This course provides guidance in the preparation of contract documents. It describes how the work is to be completed, sets the payment schedule, provides methods to resolve disagreements and defines other aspects of the agreement between the parties involved. STAFF MANAGEMENT - 2 PDH - This course reviews the major management areas of recruitment, hiring, employee development, evaluation, and discipline. It also references applicable hiring and labor laws. Effective company management and leadership can maximize employee strengths and enhance their ability to contribute to the overall success of the company. Course cost is $40.00.
IMPROVING WORK PERFORMANCE - 4 PDH - Course covers several strategies and tips to assist the professional in developing and enhancing the effective and better use of his/her time leading to improved work performance on those tasks that contribute to achieving an individual’s and/or an organization’s objectives and goals. It also discusses the important topic of work-life balance. Course cost is $80.00.
THE EXPERT WITNESS - 4 PDH - This course provides information to help prepare the professional for his/her role as an expert witness by describing the attorney-client relationship, detailing what the expert witness should do to satisfy contractual duties in and out of the courtroom and how to effectively use visual aids to support testimony. Course cost is $80.00.
OSHA MULTI-EMPLOYER JOBSITES - 2 PDH - This course is designed to help employers and individuals understand the specific roles, responsibilities, and accountability for safety when there are multiple employers and contractors on a jobsite. Course cost is $40.00.
WATERSHED MANAGEMENT - 2 PDH - Course reviews federal and state regulations and the various phases involved in effectively controlling storm water runoff. Course cost is $40.00.
CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT - 2 PDH - Course reviews best managment practices involved in initial development site grading and infrastructure installation to project completion. It also covers work zone, environmental and job site dangers. Course cost is $40.00.
PARKING LOT DESIGN GUIDELINES - 3 PDH - Course provides details on effective parking lot layout while minimizing environmental impacts. It evaluates factors such as access points. drop-off and parking areas, emergency and service vehicles and barrier free accessibility. Course cost is $60.00.
GPS MAPPING - 2 PDH - Course reviews Global Positioning Systems and describes methods to be used in accurately collecting existing and as-built conditions to assist in design and to generate detailed site maps. Course cost is $40.00.
WETLANDS - 2 PDH - Course covers the regulatory requirements, technical guidelines of wetlands, charateristics of wetlands and identification methods. Course cost is $40.00.
KENTUCKY PLANNING AND ZONING - 2 PDH - Course reviews Kentucky Planning and Zoning Statutes (KRS 100), other planning and zoning issues and a basic overview of the development process. Course cost is $40.00. FLOOD PLAIN MANAGEMENT - 2 PDH - Course covers the evaluation and mapping of flood plains and discusses the various permitting issues for each flood zone. INSURANCE 101 - 2 PDH - Course covers the basic concepts of property-casualty insurance and its application with respect to individual and business policyholders. Course cost is $40.00. SUBDIVISION AND LAND USE PLANNING - 2 PDH - Course reviews land use planning and subdivision layout guidelines. Guidance is presented regarding assessing external and on-site development factors including road rights-of-way, access and topography. Course cost is $40.00.
KENTUCKY CODE OF CONDUCT (ETHICS) - 2 PDH - Course provides an overview of the adopted code of conduct for Kentucky engineers. Course cost is $40.00.
OHIO CODE OF CONDUCT (ETHICS) - 2 PDH - Course covers the adopted code of conduct for Ohio engineers. Course cost is $40.00.
ARKANSAS CODE OF CONDUCT (ETHICS) - 2 PDH - Course reviews the regulations for the code of conduct for Arkansas Professional Engineers and delineates specific obligations the registrant must meet. Course cost is $40.00.

To order - complete registration form and mail with corresponding check for either PDF or CD-ROM course format. Each course consists of a PowerPoint presentation, a set of handouts and a 20-question exam covering the course content. Successful completion of the course exam is a 75% passing score. A certificate will be issued to verify earned professional development hours of credit per course completed. Please note that certificates can only be issued to those who pay for the PDF or CD-ROM course(s).
Once the registration form and check are received for the course(s) the PDF files will be sent by email within 24 hours of receiving the course order and payment. The CD-ROM, handout(s) and exam will be sent by first class mail to you within 2 business days of receiving the course order with payment. The certificate(s) are usually mailed within 2 working days once the completed exam(s) is(are) returned by email, fax or through the U.S. Postal Service.
